Critique is a great method that you can use to do two things: getting things done and becoming a better designer.

Designers can spend a lot of time when they design. Sometimes they take too much time to make it perfect. In real life you never have time. In real life you have deadlines, other team members who are counting on you, goals, KPIs to hit… To move forward faster you need to stop designing in just your own world and start sharing your work with other people. Bouncing ideas will help you complete projects way faster. The main reason why you would want to do this is that sometimes you may feel stuck and feel that you are spinning wheels. Ask friends or coworkers to critique your designs so you can move forward faster.

If you really want to be helpful to your fellow designer start critiquing his or her work, but not just critique to critique, give value, show how he or she can be better. It is better to say one thing that can really impact your designer than to just critiquing everything. if you always say good things and avoid being tough, people will not learn and will stay on the same level. You need to be transparent and really try to help people.

Critique is a great method that you can start using today. Stop being nice, start being helpful.
