Learning UX Online in China

As a UX student, it is necessary for us to obtain knowledge about UX in different ways and not only in class. There is a lot of useful information on the internet.

In China, I usually get UX techniques and information in the following ways:

  1. Zhihu

This is the most well known Q&A website in China, like Quora in the US and most of the users work in IT, like software engineers, product managers and UI/UX designers.

In this website, users input their education information and work experience during their first time visit, and this information can be browsed by others. making their answers more credible. Better the quality of the answer, more likes and followers the user will gain.

I used this website for 4 years, rarely to answer questions, but to follow a lot of designers. They share their experiences of the work, learning ways, and thinking processes of doing design. And they sometimes have lectures like how to find a UX job or what you need to pay attention to if you want a good portfolio.

2. WeChat-subscription

WeChat is a chat APP which around 75% of the Chinese use. Recently a new function has been added named subscription. Some companies, groups or even an individual can have their own subscription account. I followed some of the designers and IT companies. And they usually send articles about experiences, study methods or recruiting news.

3. WeChat-group

There are lots of professional groups in weChat and I joined several of them like “UX designers in US”. Group leaders share useful information while other members also share links and some other useful information. It is like the combined function of Zhihu and subscription, where we can both ask questions and discuss problems and we can also share information.

These are the three main ways I used to get UX/UI knowledges online in China. I heard that there are some good UX broadcasts but I have never tried them before.
