We have all used LinkedIn or heard about it at some point in our careers. The main purpose of LinkedIn was to create a social network around businesses and employees around the world to participate and to get to know each other professionally. In the year 2011, LinkedIn released a new function in their website to accommodate job searches for unemployed and employed individuals. This created a ripple in the business world where people could find out about job opportunities that earlier they had no access to the knowledge of such opportunities.

This LinkedIn search function was well received and used by the target audiences that they decided to unbundle their search function into a separate application for the iOS and Android platforms. This gave users easy access to search and apply for jobs while also keeping track of the companies that the user has applied to.

The LinkedIn Job Search application on Android Play Store

LinkedIn Job Search was one of the more creative ideas that the company could have come up with. The job search on the website is a little more complicated than its application successor to basic computer users. To counter this measure, LinkedIn has made the user flow much simpler when applying for a job with the Job Search application. The number of steps that a user has to go through to complete an application has been drastically reduced to just 3 or 4 from the search page.

Another feature that LinkedIn created was the Easy apply on the website and the application to make it even more simpler for users to do the same actions. The forms that need to be filled out for a job application are automated with the answers given in the previous application that are saved by LinkedIn.

LinkedIn’s Easy Apply feature

The LinkedIn Job Search application has given the advantage to users to apply or search for job opportunities on the go from mobile devices. You also get custom notifications from the app that tell you if an employer has responded to the job offer or whether there are new jobs in the same field as the user was previously searching for.

The LinkedIn website has more to offer in terms of options to filter out jobs available. The Job Search application condenses information to show the user limited content at every stage of the process to make the user feel it easy to read through. This helps when a user has to go through hundreds of job offers in their field to narrow it down to a few dozen offers that may be the best fit for them.

LinkedIn has unbundled many features of their website into applications for the iOS and Android platforms. Here is a list of these applications:

  1. The LinkedIn mobile app
  2. LinkedIn Job Search
  3. LinkedIn Lookup
  4. LinkedIn Learning
  5. LinkedIn SlideShare
  6. LinkedIn Groups
  7. LinkedIn Pulse
  8. LinkedIn Recruiter
  9. LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  10. LinkedIn Elevate

As you can see, LinkedIn has created applications to help simplify tasks for everyday users to achieve what they are looking for. LinkedIn is always looking for creative ways to help social networking between working professionals get easier and efficient.
