Presenting Data Meaningfully

There comes a time in every designer’s career when he or she has to present researched data in an artistic way that is easy for a user to understand whether the user is a designer or a layman. For this instance, let’s make use of researched data tabulated into data sets or data sheets. Here below is an example of a data set or a data sheet with research data.

This data is hard to read much less understand what the data can be used for and how people can interpret this data to show a message to those that are the receptors of such data. This data can be broken down into categories to show the hierarchy of the message embedded into the data sheet. This can be further simplified by giving the data a visual representation using charts, graphs or more complex visualizations.

Charts and graphs can be shown in several methods. Some of them are Bar charts, Pie charts, Line charts, Pictograms, Histograms, Plotting of Lines, etc.

Types of Charts

This form of visual data representation can clarify research and analysis questions to various questions pertaining to the data. Understanding the data can get complicated if there are hundreds and thousands of data fields to be compared or analyzed. To help with such cases, there are special softwares that can be used to help interpret the data visually. Some of the most used tools for these operations are as follows:

There are many ways to interpret data to create beautiful visualizations and there are many tools to help users achieve this. The important thing is to create a visual design of the data in a meaningful manner that is useful to all users to communicate a message clearly. This helps users find the problem or an approach to solving the problem effectively.
