Something about Dynamic Interaction Design

In my last project, I want to use the dynamic polygonal lines to emphasize the trend of different food choice. But the guest speaker think the dynamic polygonal lines are extras. That make my think about a question: Under what circumstances we need to use the dynamic interaction design?
I look up some information and make a brief summary:
1 Show that system is progressing

People are always impatient when they wait. Giving them to see the animated interface can distract their attention. Some animated interface can also show how much the system already down.
2 Give users visual feedback
In UI design, visual feedback is very important. In real life, buttons, controllers, and other objects will respond to the user’s interaction. That is what the users expect.
However, please keep in mind that the visual feedback should be “low-key” and be easy to understand. Button feedback is widely used in UI interface, while if you abuse to use the dynamic interaction design, it will be counterproductive.
3 Give users a clue
In this type of principle, dynamic effects act between two different interfaces. They demonstrate the trend of web information architecture. It’s like tell users where the last page goes and where the next page comes.

4 Some websites or apps have there own style and branding
In this role, dynamic effects can help highlight the company’s brand value, or product strengths.

Although situation may not necessarily be user-centric, they have clear functional goals — to meet the company’s marketing strategy.

Those are the main reasons about why we use the dynamic interaction design. (There must have other reasons, but here I just talk about those four reasons.)
Go back to the very beginning, my dynamic polygonal line. The line do not mean the progressing of the system, can not give users a clue between two pages and is not my own style or branding. It did give some visual feedback to users. but the still line has the same effect with dynamic one. Besides, this dynamic polygonal line does not match the overall website style. Finally I decided to remove it.
