What is unbundling and why it is important in today’s product world? Unbundling is a way of breaking down big, complicated systems or processes apart to create smaller, stand-alone solutions. As we move on with the progress our processes, as well as products, become more and more complicated every day. When products start having too much functionality they become difficult in use. The next logical move is to unbundle them, find areas where you can improve user experience and create stand-alone solutions.

Healthcare is an old industry with complicated processes that start with searching for a specialist or hospital, going there, seeing a doctor, getting diagnosed, getting treatment, staying at the hospital, going home. Even though many specialists were improving these processes over thousands of years to make them smoother and more efficient, now it is time to start unbundling these processes with a goal of creating stand-alone products that improve even more the patient experience. Hopefully, for us, specialists in healthcare are aware of this and have great solutions. To show what a great unbundled solution is let us take a look at JeffConnect.

JeffConnect is a service that connects you with Jefferson Hospital doctors anytime, anywhere through your phone using a mobile app. They use the latest video technology to deliver face-to-face care and consultation, without you having to come to Jefferson. In the end, it helps patients save time and money. Jefferson unbundled the first part of the healthcare process, which is “diagnosing” to make a better user experience in this area.
