Before we start, let’s talk about critique. Critique is a way to help you to improve you design skills as a designer, which is also a chance to articulate the content about“ what you did”and “why you did that”, sometimes you would better to explain your thoughts to the reviews if they don’t get your idea as clearly as you do. In Brief, critique is that you can get useful information from peers, teachers or other designers when they judge your design work.

As a designer, we design something in our real life. when a designer working on a project, they need to learn to accept the comments and feedback from people, such as , colleagues, client or some people from other fields. The feedback could help us to resolve a certain design problem and make it better.

How can we receive a good critique or give a good critique?

I still remembered the midterm presentation from last time, when we were ready to present our work and ready for professor to critique, the professor told us we need to critique each group from each other. At that time, my mind is chaotic, I never critique anyone before, I always get feedback from professors and then modify my work. I don’t know how to critique others work and which way is better to express my thoughts that can’t hurt their feelings. After critique from the fist few groups, I understand if you want to give a good critique to your fellows, the first of all you need to tell them what part of works you like and explain why you like it, then you can move on a certain aspect of a design which you think it is not working, try to explain why this suggestions on how they can be improved. Vice versa, if you use this way to critique others work, they will give feedback as you did.

Consequently, the critique is about your design work and make it better. The people who give us critiques just because they want to help us to become a good designer and wish us to learn more experience to enhance our abilities of design skills.

Thanks for reading.
