Learnings from Digital Marketing

How many of us start something only to know that we know very little, use up our resources and then painfully quit the venture

Within each of us lies the power of our consent

To health and sickness, To the riches and the poverty,

To freedom and slavery. It is we who control these and not another.

I had been learning digital marketing for my hobby for the last 3 years, and doing bits and pieces of advertisements for my own needs. As I learnt of Deepak Kanakaraju, the undisputed Master in the Digital Marketing space as of today in India, I started to dream to have my skills honed and get on to Digital Marketing.

I joined Digital Deepak’s Internship program, and here’s what happened on Day 1.

Finding the Gold — The Market Niches

Deepak nailed my curiosity by sharing the Day 1 topic “Finding the Gold”.

A Market well-identified is success halfway. So was my curiosity of how I could use digital marketing to leverage opportunities for myself.

Although a little sceptic, I am assured I am at the right place to start.

Finding the Gold is about;

1. Understanding the market opportunity — It’s not about selling a comb to a bald man, rather it’s about identifying a clear opportunity that’s available, untapped, less ventured.

2. Identifying what are the market needs — There is always a need that is unmet in the market.

3. Markets evolve and need to keep changing — innovations, new products, efficiency improved, cheaper products

4. Global Economy and the effect on markets — How debt creates money, and the fundamentals of global money supply, interest rates, recession and spending, inflation and demand.

5. Creating 10X Value-based products/services — If you give value more than what your customer pays you, you will succeed.

Best Digital Marketing is Communication Done Right

The most important skill is communication. If you communicate clearly, and complete enough so that you understand your customer needs well and give back such that the customers know that the communication is complete if the services are valued and appreciable.

Digital Marketing is a medium of communication with technology as an advantage. The digital tools available are enormous but communication is the key to excel. What to communicate and whom to communicate is important.

Future of Digital Marketing & Opportunity for India

Digital Marketing has not lost the lustre, it’s going to stay, and is evolving. With many more tools being launched for Digital Marketing, the Digital space is getting more interesting day by day.

Almost 90% of all information that we search is through digital platforms today, in the form of news, pictures, videos, advertisements, articles, email, messages, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Websites.

Integrated Digital Marketing Strategy

Deepak follows this strategy and says Content is the King. The most searched is content, in the form of information, articles, blogs, magazine, books, videos, pictures, infographics, etc.

Digital marketing started as a small topic in itself, and today is a vast topic with lots of niches inside.

Today SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the key to market the niches. The Market is rich in the niches. A specialist with more knowledge on a particular topic of niche is in demand. So is any professional having expertise in his topic or niche can grow exponentially than a generalist? You can’t be everything to everyone.

Deepak helped us by explaining how we should do the market research to find our niche. Some of the most fabulous tools available are;

Keywords Research: Google Keyword, Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, Search Console, Ubersuggest, Google AdWords, Google Trends, Answer the Public.

Okay, keeping it short, this is a 3-month (12 webinars) paid internship with a challenge to earn back more than what I have paid for. More than the challenge the assignments are interesting opportunities to work on real projects and an opportunity to get ahead towards mastery.

Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Every time we do is new learning, and very learning improvises our doing. With so much said I wish I could have learnt a little bit more before doing.
