Our Product

LeaseLock Zero Deposit is an insurtech software platform that automatically eliminates security deposits at apartment communities. We’ve created a new category of insurance — lease insurance — designed specifically to protect the property management company adequately. LeaseLock seamlessly deploys through deep system integrations with property management systems. Zooming out further, we aim to build a platform that modernizes insurance transactions and risk management across the real estate industry.

Our Team

LeaseLock is a diverse group of entrepreneurs, product managers, real estate leaders, and insurance executives — and of course, software engineers! Our Philosophy

LeaseLock is a data and engineering company at heart. Many of the technical challenges revolve around organizing, cleaning, and deriving insights from large data sets. Outside of data, we create automation and efficient workflows for our customers — this includes integrating with other software systems and building web applications.

Our Approach

Code Reviews

We use GitHub to manage our code and much of our development workflow. We use GitHub to ensure every line of code is peer-reviewed before being merged.

Testing

Our code is thoroughly tested at ~93% coverage by line (and counting). Unit and integration tests are required for code to be merged.

Agile Development

We take an agile approach with a focus on short, repeatable sprint cycles with tangible deliverables. We keep rituals and meetings to a minimum and operate on 2-week cycles for most projects.

Partnership with Product

Engineering and Product work very close together. Product is responsible for the “what” and the “why,” while engineering is focused on the “how.” The Product team handles prioritization and scheduling while engineering defines the right technical approach and implementation.

Automation & CI / CD

We automate our tasks—testing, deployment, linting, etc. We strive for a development workflow that is focused on engineering and problem solving — not performing repetitive tasks.

Logging, audit trail, & transparency

Since LeaseLock is a financial product & platform, we need great visibility into our platform. We have compliance requirements that require us to maintain a detailed history of transactions taking place within our systems.

Security & Compliance

LeaseLock operates in two heavily regulated industries — Insurance and real estate. Since LeaseLock deals with personal and financial information, we must maintain high standards in security and compliance. LeaseLock is SOC 2 compliant, and engineering plays a key role in safeguarding information and maintaining a high availability platform.
