Eventually, your friends are going to tire of racking for you, usually quickly. Racking is an important part of the game not just for the sake of keeping friends but also because in some leagues or tournaments you will rack for your opponent. Other times, you rack for yourself. No matter the situation, playing pool demands knowing how to rack. The three games most people play include Eight Ball, Nine Ball, and Ten Ball. There are other games of billiards like Rotation, One Ball, and Snooker but for the purpose of learning Eight Ball, Nine Ball, and Ten Ball suffices for racking. Regardless of which game you set the rack up for, it is important to have what is referred to as a tight rack. All the balls must be touching each other when the rack is set up. In order to achieve this, there are quite a few racks on the market to choose from.

There are the flat template racks that the balls are placed on and there are racks with holes to hold each ball in place. Most players consider these the best racks for a tight rack each and every time but they can take some effort and time to load and remove without upsetting the balls.
