The havoc created by the cyclone which hit the coastal region of Odisha on 3rd of May, 2019 with a wind speed of 240 KMPH has done large scale destruction and electricity have not yet been restored in many of the villages in the impacted regions, even after a month after the massive disaster.

Most of the people in villages still live in Kuccha houses which were severely damaged during the cyclone and their livelihood is severely impacted, far from normal. More than 1 million people were impacted by the cyclone.

The destruction was beyond imagination. Basic necessities like food, water, and electricity were inaccessible to people here. Thus, local residents, non-governmental and government organisations from surrounding states came forward to help Odisha in this extreme situation. However, only the accessible and important places of Odisha received relief help but most of the rural areas in Odisha which were more affected by the cyclone had to suffer more as they were unreachable by relief groups and authorities.

We, the Lecturenotes team, operate from Odisha. Our office had also faced moderate damages. But we thought of helping people whom the relief help couldn’t reach. So, we went to an affected area, named Jasuapur, near Satasankha, in Puri district.

We were astonished by the crowd gathered there. We can see the suffering in their eyes which were portraying their situation. Our Team provided basic necessities like Tarpaulin(awning cloth), Solar Lights, Mosquito nets etc

The happiness we saw that day are still fresh in our hearts, and the blessing we got from the elderlies took away all the exhaustion we had, working from morning 6 AM to pick up the items, packing them separately to finishing the distribution at 4 PM.

The day was indeed memorable and motivates us to do much more for the poor and needy.

We know we couldn’t help everyone who was affected by this calamity, but we started our journey in helping at least a few.

Always a small help makes a big difference.

We would request our readers and fellow companies to also do their part in helping people of Odisha get back to their usual life by contributing in similar manners.
