Working at a startup is filled up with unique experiences and great learnings. There are a lot of things happening in a startup simultaneously and it is difficult for them to attract and retain the best talent without adopting workforce engagement. But at LectureNotes we have people working with us as a fresh pass out from college to an experienced professional.

Unlike other edtech startups, LectureNotes is based in a Tier 2 city like Bhubaneswar. But it has emerged as a fast-paced growing startup in a short amount of time by emphasizing on workforce engagement. The edtech startup, which was founded by Ayush Agarwal, raised an angel funding of Rs.2.5 crore from HNIs, an investor group based in Singapore in 2019.

The professional satisfaction of employees working in various departments — product, technology, operations, and HR — depicts the impact of the employee engagement strategy adopted by LectureNotes. We asked the professionals working in LectureNotes a slew of questions to determine the impact of the employee engagement strategy on their professional satisfaction and experience.

Inspiring Business Vision

Many professionals quit startups when they cannot align with the business vision. LectureNotes has been retaining talent successfully by aligning employees with the business vision. LectureNotes has already revealed its plan to transform its community-driven edtech platform by leveraging disruptive technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). Aditya, who works in the technology department, believes that the company has a big vision.

Multidimensional Professional Growth

Like other startups, LectureNotes boost employee engagement by promoting multidimensional professional growth. The impact can be seen in the statement made by Sanjib Singh, who works in the business and operation team. While answering the questions, he said, “The way LectureNotes is growing and the amount of work that is required to be done is tremendous. So for anyone who wants to grow in multiple dimensions LectureNotes is the place to work in.

Fostering Employee Innovation

In addition to launching an innovative edtech platform, LectureNotes also passionately believes in fostering employee innovation. According to Santanu Prasad Sahoo, who works in the product team, “A whole lot of experiences to gain and better handling of heavy workloads will result in maximum boost of the career and also will be a part of bringing innovations to the new education system thus helping the system will definitely create a change in the world.

Agent of Transformation

LectureNotes has already transformed online education in India by launching an innovative platform to facilitate seamless communication between students and teachers. Many professionals joined the edtech startup with the passion to become an agent of transformation. Kashmika Borthakur is one of the professionals who joined LectureNotes with the aim to transform online education. While sharing her experience, she said, “This is the right platform for me where I can learn all work & we are helping the students and faculties on education.

Sustainable Business Growth

Most professionals these days prefer startups to established enterprises to leverage fast growth. LectureNotes has been successful in retaining talent by sustaining high growth and attracting investments. While responding to our questions, Soumya Panda from the HR team, said, “If we can make LectureNotes a big brand, not only engineering but we can serve from Class-1 to Ph.D. Now the govt. approves online education, we also serve that. I think after 2–3 years, LectureNotes must be a multinational company having 100+ branches all over the world.

While other fast-growing internet startups are downsizing staff, LectureNotes is planning to recruit professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds. The emphasis on employee engagement also helps LectureNotes to address a key problem faced by many startups — employee turnover. In addition to preventing employee burnout, LectureNotes has been attracting the best talents from the edtech industry.
