LECTURENOTES AND CYCLONE FANI: A TALE OF MOTIVATION AND HEROISM

A Cyclone with a wind speed of 240 KMPH has created havoc and large scale destruction in the eastern states of India, especially Odisha on the 3rd of May 2019. Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha which also stations the head office of LectureNotes was severely affected by the cyclone.

Effect of FANI on students

Students were badly affected by the disaster as the exams were on their heads. We could imagine the disheartened and worried faces of our students whose studies and exams were also affected due to the cyclone.

We felt something must be done for the student community, and as a team which is working to improve learning, sitting hands on hands was not an option.

It was the love and support of the students that turned out to be our motivation and strength and our team started working for the students even in these adversely affected conditions.

FANI TOOK TOLL ON OUR OFFICE TOO :(

When we reached our workplace at Bhubaneswar, it too was affected like every other building nearby!

The glass panes were broken, there was no electricity supply then and the wifi didn’t function. Shockingly, our AC outdoors were blown by the wind and it was lying on the ground.

But, WE HAD TO WORK!!! FOR A MILLION STUDENTS WHO RELY ON LECTURENOTES !!!

We managed to work in this extreme condition. The motivation from our student supporters made us do.

We implemented “jugaad” techniques of using mobile hotspots in the absence of Wifi, hand fans in place of AC, battery power during the rest time of the generator.

We used generators to work (yes, we missed the AC, but we didn’t feel the heat, as it was nothing compared to our zeal to work for our students!!)

It was made sure our team is safe and perform well even during this phase.

THE PROUDEST PHASE IN OUR (CAREERS)

We usually do our best, but even we had not expected such dedication from our team. They worked hard for our community as well as our organization.

We are proud to be “The Lecturenotes Team”

“A huge impact always begins with a tiny motivation.”
