Decentralized Identifier (DID)-based data platform specialist IBCT (CEO Martin Lee) announced that it has been awarded the Minister of Science and ICT (MSIT) Prize in the Digital Society Innovation category at the ‘ICT Convergence 2023 Awards,’ hosted by the Korea Association for Information and Science Education (KISE) on the 13th.

The ‘ICT Convergence Awards’ is an event organized by the Korea Association for Information and Science Education (KISE), sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and Gyeonggi-do Province. The event recognizes individuals and entities leading the ICT industry, honoring their contributions to the development of the ICT industry through information technology convergence, innovation, and cultural advancement. Awards are presented in various categories to recognize achievements in promoting ICT industry development.

IBCT has developed a decentralized data management and security solution that integrates blockchain, Decentralized Identifier (DID) technology, and zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology in response to the awareness of the need for data protection against cyber threats such as IT administrator key compromise, ransomware, and hacking.

This solution, based on Decentralized Identity Data Hub (DIDH) technology, enables data integrity verification and allocation of secure personal data zones. Through the separation storage of identifiable and non-identifiable information and a personal key backup/recovery system, it effectively addresses cybersecurity threats such as personal information leaks and sensitive data hacking.

As a result, Pentabreed recently launched the decentralized MyData platform service ‘MySelfData’ in collaboration with Korea Culture Promotion Inc.
‘MySelfData’ features the application of IBCT’s DIDH technology, enhancing data security and transparency. This allows users to effectively manage their own data by leveraging the technology. Users can directly provide data in various aspects of their daily lives, such as health, shopping, and gaming. By linking this data with various demand-driven businesses, users can receive rewards and a variety of personalized services tailored to their preferences.

IBCT’s CEO, Martin Lee, stated, “I am honored to receive the award for our contributions in developing a DIDH based on DID, which has been instrumental in advancing data security and the decentralized MyData industry. Our goal has been to develop Web3.0 data solutions that protect personal information and verify data integrity, and we will continue to strive towards providing safer and more innovative data solutions in the future.”
