University Mental Health Day

University Mental Health Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness about students’ mental health, encouraging open conversations, and making mental health a university-wide priority.

This year, University Mental Health Day falls on Thursday 14th March. This blog has information on how you can get involved, where you can find additional information and support around mental health, and events you can attend (check out Leeds Beckett’s therapy dogs and ponies!).

About University Mental Health Day — Why Is It Important?

  • 1 in 4 students have a diagnosed mental health issue
  • 30% said their mental health has gotten worse since starting university
  • 1 in 4 students would not know where to go to get mental health support at university if they needed it

No student should be held back by mental health; therefore, it is important to give everyone information on how and where to get support should they need it.
