Liz Cheney is Still Awful

She’s doing the right thing on Trump, but I still won’t vote for her

Don’t get things twisted. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.,) daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is still awful. She comes from a warmongering family and engages in Christo-fascist rhetoric on her Facebook page. I’m no longer a Christian, but the last time I checked in the Bible, making money from sending poor men and women to die is not looked upon kindly by God. However, I could be wrong. If you read the Bible, there’s plenty of violence and God frequently orders the extermination of groups of people. So maybe he’s okay with warmongering?

However, I reviewed her recent speech given just before she was canceled by own party. There’s a lot of good things in the speech. She talks about how former President Donald Trump represents a threat the United States has never seen before. She also said he’s anti-Democratic. All those things are accurate.

“Today we face a threat America has never seen before. A former president, who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol in an effort to steal the election, has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans that the election was stolen from him. He risks inciting further violence,” said Cheney.

But she tells several untruths and recites right-wing propaganda. For example, she says Republicans won the Cold War. What? Weren’t Democratic legislators and Democratic members of the Armed Forces involved in that struggle too?

She is using that old canard that Democrats are weak on defense or are crypto-Communists. However, it’s members of the right-wing who fanboy Russian President Vladimir Putin, a former KGB agent who wants to return to the old Soviet Union days. Putin also helped install Trump in the White House.

The Cold War lasted several decades and involved several clashes, such as the Korean War, which started under President Harry Truman. The infamous Cuban Missle Crisis occurred under President John Kennedy. Both Kennedy and Truman were Democrats. And even though the military tends to lean towards the Republican Party, some of them are Democrats.

This an example of Cheney drinking the right-wing Kool-Aid. She is using that old canard that Democrats are weak on defense or are crypto-Communists. However, it’s members of the right-wing who fanboy Russian President Vladimir Putin, a former KGB agent who wants to return to the old Soviet Union days. Putin also helped install Trump in the White House.

Also, Republicans such as Sen. Ron Johnson, (R-Wis.) and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani regularly parrot Russian propaganda. Giuliani has also been accused of being a conduit for Russian talking points seeping into the media.

Watching the speech gives the impression that Cheney is gearing up for a presidential run. And right now, she’s getting a lot of kudos for her bravery and willingness to stand up to Trump’s fledgling authoritarianism. #Cheney2024 briefly trended on Twitter. She also said she hasn’t ruled out a future White House run.

But let’s not forget her background, the Christo-fascism and the fact that she can’t seem to tell the truth about significant issues. She’s still a Cheney.
