The REAL Danger of vaccines.

Americans are getting vaccinated now at a pace of about 2 million people per day. This is an amazing accomplishment; a year ago, our government was denying the science and the facts about the virus. Today, while more than half a million Americans have died, we are beginning to see a decline in new cases, and the new government has turned the COVID shipwreck around.

Many are asking if we need to continue to wear masks: some Republican-led states are already easing restrictions, telling their states that masks are no longer necessary. The Governor of Texas declared the state to be “fully open,” a tragic mistake.

So should Americans continue to wear masks?

Absolutely. While no vaccine provides 100% protection, the protection they provide is incredible. But a vaccine only helps if you get it. And millions of Americans have said they will refuse to get a vaccine. The most-used reason is that the vaccines were developed too quickly, and people don’t trust what is in them: the same people who eat Chicken McNuggets and drink soda by the gallon without knowing what is in them argue they need to know the ingredients of the vaccines.

The bigger problem we face are the variants of the virus that vaccines offer no protection against.

Imagine a nation where 300 million people get vaccinated. Suddenly, everyone wants to rip off their masks and PARTY! Then the variants clobber us all, bringing about thousands — perhaps millions — of cases . Do you think those who have not wanted to wear masks in the first place — those who have been quick to discard them, like Republicans — will EVER put a mask on again?

At that point, we run the very real risks of having no vaccination to protect us, having half the population refusing to don a mask, and being trillions of dollars in debt WITH NO EASY WAY OUT!

So, for a while, YES, we will need to wear masks until these variants are brought under control with booster vaccines or we achieve herd immunity.
