Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

Think about how much God must love us.

He sent His Son here to die for our sins, knowing not only that the Son never committed any sin, but knowing that His Son’s enemies would try the Son and convict the Son unjustly, and sentence Him to death.

To know that God — being all powerful — could have prevented the death of the Son, could have saved the Son; nonetheless, He allowed His Son to die a cruel and painful death at the hands of His enemies. For Mankind.

Consider the love God must have for Man.

As God watched, Jesus was killed for the sins of the enemies of God;

Jesus was killed by those same enemies — enemies God could destroy with a single word;

enemies that cursed the name of God and the name of Jesus;

enemies that would go as far as to deny that God and Jesus even exist;

enemies whose hatred for God and for His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ would lead those enemies to hang the Son of the Living God on a cross, so that…

God could forgive those enemies.

This is Love.
