Legal tech isn’t very good, tbh

Most of us, when hearing about #innovation

I know I’m not supposed to say this, because I’m in the #LegalTech (ugh) industry and all. But, legal tech today isn’t really that… good. If you’re here, you probably know why, but for the uninitiated: most user experience is awful, incentives are out of whack, and there is little reward for honest discourse.

Maybe some of the myths we debunk here can help move everything forward. It’s a noble goal, because there are so many problems worth solving in this industry / profession / bacchanalia-of-billing.

Perhaps it’s also fitting that we’re launching this little experiment in irreverence and myth-busting the week before the ABA TechShow, where legal tech vendors from far and wide compete to pack the most buzzwords into their marketing materials before they inevitably forget about the poor souls that signed up for their half-baked products in two-months time.

Now, when I say “we” that’s really just me at this point, but hopefully Alex Smith will join in, and I hope you will too. There is far too much hyperbole for just a few people to dissect — we need your help! Comment, write guest posts, tweet at us, and email us with your examples of legal tech myths, vendors doing bad things, and awful stock photos of androids in deep thought.

Deep thoughts, obviously.
