Two months ago when our team made a decision to start a project devoted to the topic of children’s social benefits we were delighted. Cause our project had a noble aim, seemed to be not too difficult, but still interesting for us as the faculty of law students. We had serious suspicions that the state of affairs in this sphere needs some improvement. Our country goes through rough times nowadays, the undeclared war is going on, so the social protection of citizens is not the question number one for it. Soon we understood that the project was not that easy. This week we found out that it is very difficult. And now we know that we hit home choosing the topic of our work. But we are not pleased at all.
Last week we were seeking for information to create the content of our website. We got some, but, being earnest students, we were eager to find as much useful information as possible. So we visited some more welfare departments.
Okey, now we know the furnishings of almost every room in welfare departments of Lviv, but we still don’t know enough about social benefits for children. Thanks to a couple of people who were ready to provide us relevant information as the law prescribes them to do. Others were like “I’m here to sit on my chair and drink coffee. No obligation to provide information. And by the way I know nothing”. But the culmination was when one woman called for guard as soon as we entered the room. We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Described above circumstances led to an important decision for our team. We realized that it would be impossible to create a qualitative product if we tried to encompass Ukraine as a whole. So we decided to concentrate our attention on Lviv region. It’s temporary, but if we are able to do a proper work within the bounds of one region, we will succeed in other regions too. This is just a start.
