How to Get Lucky

It would be foolish to pretend that luck does not play a part in the attainment of success for some people. While the “will of the gods,” is fickle you can, through planning and persistence, stack the cards of fate in your favor.

You often hear people say:

“The main way to get ahead in life is to meet the right people.”

“You have to be in the right place at the right time.”

“You have to be very lucky to get promoted, become famous or acquire wealth.”

In fact, many people feel they have very little control over the events in their lives. They feel fate has dealt them a losing hand and that, in effect, luck is simply not on their side. Luck to these people is a strange and mystic phenomenon that avoids them like the plague and bestows itself on others. This, of course, is just not true. There are things beyond your control, but 95% of luck lies directly in your hands.

What is Luck?

The definition of luck as preparation meeting opportunity goes back at least 2000 years to the Roman philosopher Seneca. More modern research has been done by Spanish professors and businessmen Alex Rovira and Fernando Trias de Bes. Their book , Good Luck: Create the Conditions for Success in Life & Business, outlines five keys successful people have used to creating business luck:
