Chamonix — Mount Blanc, an Adventure’s Paradise
Chamonix is a picturesque town located at the base of Mount Blanc in the Haute-Savoie region of France. It is known as the “capital of alpinism” and is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, skiers, paragliders, white water rafters, and nature lovers. Everyone here looks fit!
Chamonix is located in a valley at the foot of the highest peak in Western Europe, Mont Blanc. The town is surrounded by majestic snow-covered peaks and glaciers. It is a starting point for many of the activities in the area, including hiking, climbing, and skiing, although I have only enjoyed the summers here. The famous “Tour du Mont Blanc,” a multi-day hiking trail that circles the mountain, starts and ends in Chamonix. There are also many beautiful trails on the other side of the city, offering spectacular views of Mont Blanc. If you don’t fancy the steep trek up the mountain, you can take a cable car and enjoy the walk down.
