There are a lot of great places in Spain, but the mountaintop city of Ronda is one of my favorites. Located in the mountainous region of Andalusia in southern Spain, about an hour’s drive from the famous Costa Del Sol cities of Malaga and Marbella, Ronda is the perfect day trip, made even better if you stay overnight.

One of the main attractions of Ronda is its location, nestled in a rugged mountainous terrain surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. The town is situated on a high plateau above a deep gorge, El Tajo, which is spanned by an 18th-century bridge, Puente Nuevo. This bridge offers a stunning view of the gorge and the countryside below, as do all the hotels and restaurants located on the cliffs.

Ronda is also known for its rich cultural heritage and is home to several historical landmarks and monuments. The Old Town of Ronda is a maze of narrow streets and whitewashed houses, which is home to many historical buildings, including the Arab Baths, the Church of Santa Maria la Mayor, and the Royal Palace.
