Awesome Con 2015 Excitement

A Preview of Things to Come…

Last year we brought you coverage of Awesome Con, which included staff interviews as well as an interview with an amazing cosplay group. This year, we’re also press, so we’ll be brining you live tweets of some of the panels, posting amazing pics with cosplayer permission to our Facebook page, and having a big write-up up early next week of what it was like to attend the convention.

However, this year is also very different. We’re extremely thrilled to be working to raise funds for Ramona’s Way, an organization that works to help women survivors of domestic violence who also struggle with substance abuse. You can read more about them here, as well. We’ll be not only collecting money for them at our charity table, but we’re also having a virtual drive for the next week for them as well. So you can submit at our donate page, or you can use PayPal to send in donations via “fundraising@legendarywomen.org” too!

Finally, we’re very excited to tell you that we’ll be conducting a panel on Saturday at 2:00 pm in panel room 143. The topic is called “The Problem of the Strong Female Character” and looks at 1-Dimensional characters in action flicks instead of multidimensional roles for women that allow them to be agents of their own stories. The original idea comes from this New York Times article. So come and chat with us about what makes a great woman character as well as a great action heroine!
