Big Props to the Leader of the Free World
Today, I’d like to take a moment to pay tribute to the leader of the free world.
And she, of course, is Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany. Since her rise to power, Chancellor Merkel has established herself as a wise and formidable world leader; one who seems to put her mind and heart into the just and reasonable ruling of her home nation.
“The German Chancellor isn’t just the leader of Europe, she is now the de-facto leader of the free world,” wrote Sunny Hundal at the Independent.Co.UK . “The thrice-elected, soft-spoken former scientist from East Germany, armed with a doctorate in quantum chemistry, doesn’t just carry the weight of Germany and Europe on her shoulders, but that of defending freedom and liberalism across the world.”
Indeed, Merkel is credited with restoring her nation’s economy and prosperity.
“She guided her country through a recession with stimulus packages and subsidies for companies that cut hours for workers, and Germany entered 2016 with a budget surplus of 12.1 billion euros ($13.1 billion) and an AAA rating from credit rating agencies,” reads her Forbes.Com profile.
Oh, and she’s a bad ass warrior woman too.
“She has also used her power against ISIS, breaking the post-Nazi-era taboo of direct involvement in military actions by sending arms to Kurdish fighters,” reads her profile.
Named no. 3 on Forbes’ list of The Most Powerful People in the World and no. 1 of the magazine’s Power Women list, Merkel is also the Leader of the Christian Democratic Union and was previously the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety and the Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. And she has won major honors in nine different nations, including our own Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Merkel’s presence on the world scene is never loud or overbearing. Not one to boast, crack brash jokes, or crow loudly about her every accomplishment, she stands tall and stalwart in her position in the world and simply does. And she does it so cool!
And did we mention she is also the Leader of the Free World?
“It’s time the most powerful woman in the world embraced her new role,” Hundal wrote. “The world needs her.”
Angela Merkel sure is an amazing human being. Wouldn’t it be an honor to shake this woman’s hand?
