With Valentine’s Day coming up, February is the month of love, and even though the whole thing makes me even more grumpy than usual, I have to admit there are some fab new books out right now on the theme of love. First, let’s turn to science, a move I can always get behind, no matter what the subject! More Than Words, by John Howard, uses the latest “cutting-edge research in interpersonal neurobiology, trauma-informed healing, attachment theory, and many more scientific fields” to help us increase our ability to be intimate, connect, and love others in our lives. Now, don’t tell anyone or you’ll blow my cover, but I love a good rom com as much as anyone, and Out of the Blue, by Alison Bliss, with its “curvaceous heroine falling for her personal trainer” looks just perfect! If you enjoy Jennifer Weiner books like I do, and if you prefer your romance books to feature actual real human beings with imperfect bodies and realistic struggles, make sure to try this one!
While Getting Clean With Stevie Green isn’t a romance book per se, it does include a rekindled romance with a high school sweetheart and features yet another very realistic character. As she nears the age of 40, Stevie Green is confused about her sexuality, and she’s growing weary of her own propensity to binge drink and sleep with strange men.
