Top Toy Food Stall: Takoyaki
I love Japan. One of my favourite destinations with a blend of the odd and the delightful, weird and wonderful. The food alone sells the place but there are places of awesome majesty, frenetic life, and just plain unbelievable, often in one crowded moment.
So it was a no-brainer when I spotted these sets on Aliexpress. I was actually looking for a few Peanuts sets — you know, featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the rest of the gang — and I browsed around the shop to see what else I could add in.
There were four varieties on offer and I snapped them up at AU$11.24 a pop. All of them built along the same lines, all of them full of their own individual — ahem — flavour. I thought that if I ever wanted an Asian market quarter of my notional Brickopolis, these would establish the scene admirably.
Slight oddity here. These are actually Sembo sets, rebranded as “Top Toy”. Not sure what’s going on but it doesn’t seem to be making any difference to the price.
