When I began my hunt to find the most inspirational still-life product Instagrammer, I came across a lot of flowers and food.

I scrolled from acorns, to tacos, to tulips and squirrels. I was looking for something unique —something creative. Then, I stumbled across Sara Tasker who took me to another world.

Tasker began sharing photography back in 2013 while pregnant with her baby girl Orla. In January, she started her “photo-a-day” project on Instagram where she was able to grow from 90 followers to 35,000 within four months. Her followers have continued to rise ever since. Tasker is now a full-time photographer and writer. She has a blog called “Me and Orla” where she shares her thoughts, recipes and tips about iPhone photography and editing.

Her still life photography spoke volumes and told incredible stories. Every day she shares stories with her 222,000 followers about the simple moments of appreciation, happiness, solitude, family and even food. Her feed was eye-opening. It told the story of her life, highlighting the most important aspects.

What stands out to me the most about her photos are how they are all undersaturated and often faded making her timeline appealing. Each post on her feed sets the scene and her captions incorporate the characters — her numerous pets, Orla and herself — her main focal points and everything in between. No neighboring post is shot at the same angle, which stood out to me.

I plan to emulate the aesthetic of her feed. Each of her photos have a single pop of color and are framed to perfection. Tasker inspired me to use negative space to allow the subject to breathe and show beauty in simplicity.

With the development of my feed, I plan to use my photos as visual cues for each story. I want my audience to see all aspects of my life. The more diverse subject matters on my feed, the more people will be able to connect with the context. I hope everyone is able to find the Instagrammer that inspires them to be their best self.

Follow Tasker on Instagram @me_and_orla to see how each of her photos frame the story of her life.
