Direct Report: Project Officer (Young Trans Centre of Excellence)

Location: LGBT Centre, Wellington Street, Leicester

Salary £ 8.25 per hour

Contract Details: Fixed Term — Post funded to 31/10/17

Funding dependent thereafter.

Hours: 8 hours per week

Annual Leave: 26 days pro rata

Probation: 3-month probationary period

Closing date: 05/01/18

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Youth Worker to join Leicester Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Centre. In return, we offer a competitive hourly pay rate of £8.25 per hour and benefits to include 26 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata).

Leicester Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Centre is a voluntary organisation established to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The Centre exists to provide a safe social and support space, deliver high-quality professional services that are responsive to the needs of the local community and challenge the inequality created by society.

The position available is assisting the Project Officer, Transgender Youth Project (8 hours per week).

Core Purpose of the Project Officer:

The core purpose of this role is to assist with the provision of services for Young Transgender People in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. This role will, therefore, focus on the delivery and development of programmes for a newly formed Transgender Youth Group and the provision of 1–2–1 support for transgender young people; working closely with the Project Officer (Youth Trans Centre of Excellence) based in Leicester.

Responsibilities and Duties

Principal Tasks:

· To plan and facilitate youth groups and events for Trans young people

· To provide information, advice and support to young people as required

· To develop and maintain young people files to record individual progress and development

· To deliver sessions on LGBT but in particular Trans awareness and homophobia within schools as required

· To support volunteers to assist with the delivery of our services

· To support young people to participate in project development/delivery and have a voice in local decision making

· To raise the profile of LGBT but in particular Trans work in the area by linking into networks and forums

· To record and evaluate all youth work using appropriate methods as agreed with the Project Officer.

· To carry out other such duties as agreed with organisation or Project Manager
