Dear President Obama,

Thank you.

Thank you for continuing to be presidential though you no longer hold the office.

You’ve continued to support and encourage the American people since your second term ended, but in the past few months you’ve filled a leadership void with compassion, empathy, and humanity. You’ve looked outside yourself to the plight of others, and you’ve offered comfort and hope.

Thank you for continuing to wear the mantle of leadership, despite the burden you incur by doing so.

Graduating seniors appreciate it. Survivors appreciate it. Essential workers appreciate it. Allies appreciate it. Black lives appreciate it. World Health appreciates it. I appreciate it.
