Lemon Works

The offices with the largest number of people are in Portugal, in the cities of Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra, in all with more than 500 collaborators. We visited the offices in the city of Porto in 2017, and this time we saw the growth to the new office in Coimbra. We got to know the space and the work culture.

Mindera’s work culture focuses on the idea that all people who work there are humans who act, speak and think like humans. On a day-to-day basis everyone works collaboratively and the whole team owns a project that they develop together. There are no departments either.

Meeting rooms

When we enter the office, we are welcomed by the natural light and transparency that fills the two areas. In the first area, we come across meeting rooms designed for moments when people will take longer time talking around a table, or for shorter meetings. The rooms are equipped for all the comfort of in person or remote meetings.

The glass walls allow visibility of the terrace with the city view, and bring in the natural light into the office.

The white and wooden furniture, and the splashes of color of yellow and green, are a constant through the space. In this area, the office design invites us to enter the kitchen and have a coffee before a meeting.

The lighting was designed to be useful and simultaneously be a decorative element that respects the architecture of the space.

Work spaces

In the second area of the office we find the work spaces. The open space is divided by half walls in the middle of which were placed work tables, creating a sequence of more private work islands. The flow is done around this area. Everything was thought to the detail to highlight the building’s architecture. The light fixtures follow the design of the ceiling, and even the cable trays has integrated the decoration.

The floors and work tables are made of wood, giving a feeling of comfort throughout the office. The walls are covered with vinyl white board, creating enough space for teams to draw ideas, write strategies, at any moment and from anywhere.

For moments of pause or more relaxed work, there are armchairs and poufs distributed throughout the space. This type of furniture was also used to create a small area where a quick conversation can take place between two people, or to make a call.

Kitchen

The Kitchen is the main area that welcomes those who enter or visit the office. It is one of the main spaces for people to gather for a meal, a snack, a conversation or a meeting. Anyone visiting Mindera is greeted warmly by entering directly into the pantry space, and being invited for a cookie and coffee.

Terrace

The terrace extends through the entire office front. The view of the city of Coimbra, makes this the perfect place to be at any time of day, and for receiving visitors as well. Because it has a direct connection to the kitchen, meals and coffee breaks often take place here.
