LendLedger’s Week in Singapore

Last week the LendLedger team travelled to Singapore to speak at CryptoEconomy Singapore, Blockchain Summit Singapore, Token Pals pitch night and InvestFair. We met with potential partners, and were deeply inspired by ever-improving blockchain technology we could bring onto the platform. Here are a few key highlights from our week:
1. The blockchain / cryptocurrency sector is maturing at a dramatic speed. The blockchain market is gaining in maturity. Several characteristics clearly reflect this trend across key industry players, including the caliber of leadership teams, experienced entrepreneurs, and strength of projects. Moreover, an increasing number of VCs are looking to invest in blockchain, suggesting that the sector is beginning to be perceived as a safer bet. In our case, within just a single week in Singapore, the LendLedger met with Temasek, Vertex Ventures, Dymon Asia, and Tembusu partners, clearly indicating that blockchain investment is becoming more mainstream.
2. The level of entrepreneurial activity connecting blockchain and the financial sector is on the rise in Asia. The involvement of more experienced entrepreneurs tackling industry problems with blockchain is being accompanied by more mainstream financial institutions and infrastructure entities testing blockchain approaches to fix old problems. Most notably, last week, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Exchange announced that they were partnering with technology firm Anquan, Deloitte Consulting, and Nasdaq stock exchange to create a secure platform for selling tokenized securities. These types of partnerships between established private and public actors demonstrate the level of commitment to making blockchain projects a reality.
3. The investor community is becoming more specialized. As blockchain companies are maturing, so are investors. While they were initially considering any type of crypto project, investors are starting to specialize in specific types of platforms, apps or services. Asian funds are also getting more actively involved in blockchain investment in the US and unlike previous years, they are now investing in early stage crypto projects, creating more competition for their US counterparts.
The LendLedger team will be back in Singapore on September 17! We’ll also be attending Consensus Singapore on September 18–20. Potential network partners or just excited to learn more about the project? We would love to meet. Email us at hello@lendledger.io. Look forward to seeing you there!
