How can you avoid “fat shaming” someone who is selected based on their appearance and who is paid to maintain their weight?

Like it or not Americans (and most countries) equate BMI with beauty. Too little BMI — not pretty. Too much BMI — not pretty. Professional bodybuilders and beauty pageant contestants work very hard to maintain the perfect balance when it comes to muscle mass and fat. Just ask any of them — it is a full-time job to achieve that balance. You can’t fat shame someone in the context of these professions by suggesting they are out of balance. Imagine criticizing a bank teller for failing to give customer the right amount of cash — would this be “math shaming”. Not at all. If your job is “not being fat” you can’t complain when your boss tells you that you are getting fat.
