I was recently watching COPS and was paying attention to the officers responses when confronted with violent or aggressive behavior. I only watched episodes from the early 90's.
And that makes killing someone acceptable?

Quick Note About Reality Television

…it isn’t real. The 1990’s police reality series called COPS followed real police officers on their shifts. Producers of the show signed contracts with local police departments allowing their camera crews to ride with police officers — these contracts gave the police departments final say over which segments were aired. Furthermore, suspects had to agree to be on television — if the suspect were killed he would not be able to sign the waiver. The fact that you never saw police involved shootings on COPS in the 90’s isn’t proof that police officers are more or less inclined to shoot suspects…
