Federal statistics tell us that African-American drivers are 31% more likely to get pulled over than white drivers. The question is why. Hillary Clinton would have you believe that police officers in the United States have implicit bias and as a result they pull over African-Americans more frequently. But is this true? Perhaps African-Americans drivers are simply more likely to violate traffic laws. Could this be the case? I know that suggesting it would be considered racist, but let’s pursue it as a cause nonetheless.

Federal statistics ALSO tell us that African-American men, despite representing only 6% of the population, commit 51% of the murders in the United States. Does this prove implicit bias in our police forces or does it mean that African-American men are more likely to murder you?

Let’s assume for a moment that police DO have an implicit bias — why might this be the case? According to federal statistics police officers are 18 times more likely to be killed by an African-American man than by all other races combined. Perhaps the fact that African-American men target police officers doing their job has caused this implicit bias to form. Or perhaps the implicit bias caused African-American men to target police officers. In any case what we don’t know — and perhaps may never know is whether or not African-Americans are good drivers.
