Imagination is something that is ingrained into human nature, and although we might like to imprudently believe that we are the masters of humanity, the truth is that humanity has existed for a long, long time. There are civilizations that were wiped out with such complete annihilation that not even a trace of their existence remains, and they were as imaginative in nature as we are. This niche of human nature, the unbridled imagination, is the reason why we have achieved progress from living in caves to living in skyscrapers.

The imagination, however, is not always used for practical purposes. We use it to entertain ourselves, to play make-believe with our circumstances, and for general merriment. Children have an especially vivid imagination and are often seen entertaining themselves in ways that the adult mind can never think of. And where there are children, there are toys. It is true that due to technological hindrance, toys of the kind we see today were impossible to conceive in pre-historic times. But clay dolls and wheels are nothing new, and rattles are a tradition perhaps as old as humanity.
