Buckingham Palace announced the death of HRH Prince Philip. He passed away on the morning of 9th April 2021 at Windsor Castle.

The tragic death of Prince Philip has thrown the United Kingdom and other parts of the Commonwealth into grief and mourning. The Duke of Edinburgh lived a life of respect, honor, and impact. He passed away at age 99, just two months shy of his 100th birthday.

Best known as the husband and the longest-serving consort to Queen Elizabeth II. As well as being a Prince, he was also a father of four, grandfather to eight, and great-grandfather to 10 — A decent example of leadership, support, and mentorship in the royal family.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 20, 1997.

On the occasion Queen Elizabeth gave a heartfelt speech, she said, “[Prince Philip] is someone who doesn’t take easily to compliments, but he has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years.”

He retired from his royal duties on 2 August 2017, aged 96, having completed 22,219 solo appointments and 5,493 speeches since 1952.
