I’ve read some of the most terrifying stories about serial killers here on Medium — they did the most horrible things to people.

One thing they have in common: they’re either locked up or dead.

But what about those who never got caught that are still running around, murdering, torturing or just living a peaceful life after a life of bloodshed?

In this article, I’ll be covering five serial killers that are still out there and belong to the so-called unsolved cases — they might even live in your neighborhood.

The Smiley Face Killers

When I read about this theory about Smiley Face Killers, it immediately drew my attention to something that I watched when I was younger: The Mentalist.

It’s a show starring Simon Baker about a ‘Mentalist’ that is looking for the killer of his wife and daughter that calls himself: Red John — whenever he kills, he leaves the bloody smiley face on the wall.

It hasn’t got anything to do with it, but I thought it was cool.
