Danny LaPlante was born in 1971 to a rough upbringing and an abusive father.

Between the abuse and his dyslexia, his school performance plummeted and he fell behind.

Danny walked the halls completely disheveled and lacking hygiene. His classmates steered clear of him. His anti-social behavior eventually got him referred to the school psychiatrist.

In off-hours, Danny broke into homes to steal valuables. One of those homes was that of his classmate, Annie Andrews.

Annie lived with her sister and widower father. Fortunately, they were gone at the time. Danny went in and found Annie’s phone number and kept it — in addition to other belongings.

This began a downward spiral.

The haunting begins

On a Monday evening, 15-year-old Annie Andrews got a phone call from Danny.

She didn’t know him. Danny said he was from a neighboring school and that her friend had given him the number. He said he was tall, handsome, and athletic.
