She is the queen of mystery. Author of dozens of classic books filled with thrilling plots that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

She sold over two billion copies of her books, holds a world record for being the best-selling fiction writer of all time. She defined an era and influenced generations of writers and lovers of detective-crime-murder-mystery-whodunit stories.

And yet, the greatest mystery Dame Agatha Christie was ever responsible for did not happen in one of her books, but in her real life. This story has it all; well-known figures, love, betrayal, disappearance, the largest manhunt ever seen at the time, an unlikely ending, and a big question left unsolved.

On Friday, December 3, 1926, Agatha Christie disappeared. For the past two years her husband, Colonel Archie Christie, has been having an affair with Nancy Neele. The couple often quarreled, Archie even asked for a divorce. Agatha’s mental state was fragile, her mother passed away a few months earlier.

On that Friday morning, when Agatha found that Archie was planning to spend the weekend away, she couldn’t take it anymore. The Christies fought and Archie left the house.
