Dorothy Marie Robards was the new girl at Mansfield High School, Texas, in the late 1900s.

Marie had long hair.

She was blessed with the beauty of a movie star. All the boys in school were drawn to her. And all the girls at her new school were jealous of her.

In addition, Marie was a straight-A student, athletic, and sweet. She played volleyball. She was part of the drama club and the yearbook staff.

But Marie was very mysterious.

The other girls started making assumptions about her background.

Some girls believed Marie’s dad had passed away, but others thought he was still alive.

Marie’s mysteriousness intimidated most of the girls at her school. They all gave up trying to be close to her, except for one, Stacey High. Stacey suspected Marie kept to herself because of a traumatic experience.

Soon enough, Stacey and Marie were inseparable.

They both had something in common: not having fathers. Marie opened up a little to Stacey about how her father died in 1993. Stacey opened up on how her father was never around.
