America Needs to Stop Worshiping the Founding Fathers

Strangely, America’s hero worship of the Founding Fathers is making political progress hard and preventing the country from becoming more democratic.

Instead, of studying the governments of other nations to see how those regimes work. America’s intellectuals study the writings of a group of long-dead white men.

For example, when critics note the unicameral parliaments in some nations are more effective than America’s two-house Congress. The critics get a lecture on James Madison’s thoughts about democracy and
