Most people are active participants of religion or are at least familiar with the concept. An astonishing 85% of people across the world identify with some religion. While most individuals have a passable knowledge of their faith, very few have accurate information about others. In fact, depending on one’s religiosity, one may not even be aware of their religion’s minutiae.

The history of religion is an even more esoteric subject!

Today, we’ll take a closer look at one of the world’s oldest monotheistic religions, Zoroastrianism. Though many scholars purport Judaism as the first monotheistic religion, there is evidence to suggest that the title fits Zoroastrianism better. However, Judaism is likely older.

According to our best estimates, Zoroastrianism is somewhere between 3500 to 3800 years old. Judaism, on the other hand, is nearly four thousand years old. Regardless of who came first, Zoroastrianism undoubtedly influenced the development of Judaism.
