T’Challa, otherwise known as the Black Panther, rules as king over the fictional kingdom of Wakanda somewhere in Central Africa. Patrice Lumumba was a Pan-Africanist democrat whose vision was of a united and democratic Congo.

Black Panther, the eighteenth film in the Marvel cinematic universe, took the movie industry by storm in 2018. The film was not only praised for being a high quality addition to the universe, but also for taking black politics and a cast of black characters as its subject matter.
