Chuck Feeney was a billionaire. However, he donated almost everything.

Feeney gave $8 billion to charity. He and his wife Helga kept $2 million for their retirement. This means, Feeney gave away 99.9 percent of his personal wealth!

“I want my last check to bounce.”

— Chuck Feeney

Feeney had a knack for business since he was a child

Feeney was born in New Jersey in 1931 during the Great Depression. He soon learned firsthand how to survive on modest means.

In elementary school, he sold greeting cards door-to-door.

In 1948, he joined the US Air Force as a radio operator.

At that time, an airman had the right to receive a free university education after the service.
