Apart from his voracity for knowledge, tyranny, hero worship by Leftist intellectuals, elephantine memory, being a sex symbol, being Latin America’s last dictator, and a connoisseur of cigars. Fidel Castro was also famous for the 638 unsuccessful life attempts made on his life by the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Before old age finally took a toll, Castro eluded the CIA for almost 40 years. Some of the attempts were so bizarre and downright ridiculous that it is difficult to verify the claims.
From exploding cigars to femme fatale, for 40 years the CIA left no stone unturned to get rid of him. Below is the number of attempts made by the CIA broken down by administration.
