Elon Musk’s Unprecedented Role in the Trump Administration

Elon Musk’s role in the Donald J. Trump Senior (R-Florida) administration is unprecedented in American history.

Musk has a weird role in the Trump Administration. They limit Elon’s status to the role of “special government employee.” Indeed, Musk can only work in government for 130 days in that status, Fortune claims. Yet, Musk’s informal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has incredible access to government agencies, including the Treasury Department and Medicare.

Musk has big ideas but no plan or strategy. Instead, Musk’s plans are so crude, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly thinks they violate federal law. Hence, the supposed genius Elon Musk forgot to ask his lawyers if his activities are legal. To elaborate, DOGE was trying to get access to the US Treasury Department’s payment systems. An act that violates privacy laws.

So what is going on here? Perhaps Trump, who worships fame and fortune, is starstruck by Musk. After all, Musk is the world’s richest private individual with a personal fortune of $406.7 billion. Cynics will say Trump is greedy and wants access to Musk’s checkbook.
