It was an important Nazi party meeting. The second in command of the Nazi regime Herman Göring slumped into tiredness.

In one of the breaks, he slipped into a bathroom and came back refreshed. The audience was elated by his energy as applause thundered across the auditorium during his speech. What gave him such energy, well, it’s the drug of the World War One era “Morphine.”

Herman Göring was a World War I veteran who flew alongside with the Red Barron, Manfred Von Richthofen in the legendary Flying Circus fighter squadron.

Herman Göring was an ace in his squadron. In one of the dog fights, his plane crashed, and he was severely injured. Göring received medical treatments, but his pain was unbearable.

Doctors recommended him with a dosage of morphine as a pain killer. Göring soon hooked up with morphine and became an addict to it. Post World War I, Germany faced an economic slowdown, and…
