If you live in Australia, you know the struggle of dealing with animals every day. Most of us don’t live in Australia – like me; I live in Canada. We don’t have rabbits, emus or kangaroos like Aussies do, but trust me: Canadian geese are ruthless. Having a bunch of squirrels around can also be painful, as you constantly almost have heart attacks due to the fear of driving over them. Beavers are nice, and you barely see them, but raccoons are a pain as well.

Rabbits are cute, both domestic and wild. But did you know Australia had 10 billion rabbits living on the continent at one point? That’s a “billion” with a “b.” The funny part is, it all started with only 24 animals which shortly turned into the mind-boggling figure of 10 billion animals. The funniest thing obviously wasn’t planned, and the way it happened is absolutely crazy. I blame people’s silly decisions when it comes to many world problems, and funnily enough, Australia's “Rabbit War” is no exception.

Here’s what happened, how it started and how it’s going. This story is both sad, funny and insane.
