And such was the beautiful friendship formed between two people thousands of miles away, one white the other brown, one royal the other a servant, one old the other young, one Christian the other a Muslim; the unbreakable friendship between Queen Victoria of England and Abdul Karim, the servant from India. Abdul Karim was Queen Victoria’s closest friend, her sweet son, her place of solace and her teacher(Munshi). He served the Queen for almost two decades.
